Two ways of blog commenting
1. Comments with direct backlinks which are mostly Nofollow
2. Comment with 2nd tier backlink which are Dofollow
Direct Backlink Comments
The sites who willl give direct backlinks will have a comment form like the one below:
Your name (you can write your keyword here)
Website (when people click on your name they will be redirected to this website)
The idea is to make an interesting comment so that people click on your name which is also an achor text for the backlink to your website. It’s also important to have an appealing name or keyword. This way you are making genuine comments adding value for the webmaster and getting traffic and backlink in the same time. Make sure you comment on very relative pages. For example, if you have an online store selling baby dolls you can comment on latest blog posts on popular blogs about baby dolls. So you are reaching the audience somehow. When you make regular comments you will start to see a flow of traffic from those blogs and also build a relationship with those webmasters which may help you in many ways.
2nd Tier Dofollow Backlinks
Many blogs use social comment platforms like Disqus and IntenseDebate. So if you want to make comment in a specific blog that uses them you have to create profile with the comment platform first. In that profile you can have a dofollow backlink to your website. When you comment on blogs using these profiles they will also appear in the profile stream and it will get a Dofollow backlink with anchor text for every comment. So if you make 50 comments using Disqus you will have 50 Dofollow backlinks to your Disqus profile and this Disqus profile will have a Dofollow backlink to your website. This is a very effective promotion method to rank on search engines as you are doing everything white hat.
It’s not about just SEO
Imagine making 1000 comments in niche related blogs. You will have a flood of traffic from those comments. This is a direct marketing technique to promote any webpage. If you have good knowledge about your niche then you can surely make thousands of comments.
I suggest do not limit this to just blogs. Comment on social media pages too. Every niche have tons of related social media pages where you can start a conversation. Don’t just leave a link. If you are talking real people will check your profile anyway that will have link to your website. There are many pages, groups and blogs on Tumblr, Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. Just one platform is big enough to get you going. So it’s about going to places where people of your audience are gethering.
